Embryo Transfer Procedure
Embryo transfer allows mare owners several “options” for the mare that is
still showing, can no longer
 carry a foal full term and producing more than one foal in a year.
The show mare will only be out of the show pen for a limited time,
the “old gray mare” will still be a viable gene pool for your herd,
and there will be more than just one foal to carry on the genetics
of one of your great mares. Lets face it…there are as many great
mares out there as there are stallions.
If you decide to have the embryo transfer procedure done on your mare,
Bowman Ranch, LLC can provide you with this service as well. Bowman Ranch,
LLC
will be an embryo recovery facility that will harvest the embryos
from your donor mare and arrange for the viable embryo to be shipped
to the appropriate facility for the transfer to take place and the
embryo placed in a “recipient” mare. There are several facilities
that offer this service and we will arrange for the remaining steps
to be taken. The rates and fees will be dependant on the facility
you choose, but here are a few of the clinics we will be working
with:
